Five daily routines to improve your happiness and mental health

Our everyday routines can significantly affect our mental health, even if we may not be aware of it.

Poor health can result from excessive sitting around, binge-watching television, staying up late, eating junk food, and rising late. Your mental health can benefit greatly from incorporating good habits like yoga, breathing exercises, spending time in nature, meditation, and healthy nutrition.

“Our daily lives and our minds, bodies, and souls are all shaped by our habits. All we really need is a little bit of peace and quiet in our crazy and chaotic lives. A brief rest would allow us to remove the wrinkles from our foreheads and feel renewed and rejuvenated. And all we have to do to obtain the ideal state of harmony between the mind, body, and spirit is practise some good habits, “the dietitian, clinical nutritionist, and wellness consultant Sheenam K. Malhotra.

According to Malhotra, these are just five easy daily practises to adopt for a healthy mind, body, and soul.

1. The effectiveness of meditation

You may heal all of your wounds and get rid of unneeded stress and anxiety by practising meditation. Your muscles and nerves are relaxed, and your mind becomes serene as a result of its calming effects. Regular meditation can significantly enhance mental health, and once the mind is at peace, disease no longer exists in the body as well. Spend 10 to 15 minutes in meditation in the morning or before going to bed. Let your body and soul re-connect in a peaceful area of your house.

2. Relax in the nature

Your body needs a break from the four walls and laptop screens. Your body and mind will both feel better after a brief time in nature. A breath of fresh air can clear your head and stimulate your brain. Spend some time off before or after work running or briskly strolling through a park or other area with vegetation.
Additionally, choose trips that incorporate lots of outdoor pursuits like hiking, canoeing, etc.

3. Maintain a healthy diet

Our total mental and physical health is greatly influenced by our food. When we indulge in nutritious, whole foods while eating mindfully, our body and mind respond more quickly and connect more deeply. Consider incorporating a balanced meal into your daily routine to provide you with the essential nutrients and to satisfy your cravings. Some nutritious foods to include are fruits, salads, fresh leafy vegetables, and lots of juices. As far as you can, stay away from sugary, fried foods and attempt to swap them out with healthier, tastier options. Also, try to put away all of your devices while you eat so that you can focus just on the food. This will satisfy your mind and spirit in addition to allowing your body to absorb all the nutrients from the food.

4. Mindful inhaling

Your unfavourable thought patterns can be changed with deep breathing. Take a deep breath and let the goodness of nature fill you up when you’re feeling anxious. Your nerves will recover, and you’ll experience tranquillity in which all unfavourable ideas will be eliminated from your head.

5. Relax like an infant

All you need to nourish your mind, body, and soul is a good night’s sleep. Our bodies produce growth hormones during sleep, which are essential for good health. Additionally, getting enough sleep gives your body the chance to function more effectively the following day and entirely recharges you. If you get adequate sleep, your body and mind will work together more effectively.
