Adobe has announced that it will buy Semrush, a popular SEO and online visibility platform, for $1.9 billion in an all-cash deal. Adobe will pay $12 per share, which is almost 77% more than Semrush’s current market price. The deal is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, after regulatory approvals and Semrush shareholder agreement.
This acquisition will help Adobe strengthen its AI-powered marketing tools. Semrush will be added to Adobe Experience Cloud, allowing Adobe to combine traditional SEO, brand visibility tools and new AI-based discovery systems. This means brands will be able to optimize how they appear not only on search engines but also in AI chatbot answers, recommendation engines and generative AI platforms.
Adobe is buying Semrush because digital marketing is changing fast. More people now rely on AI-generated answers instead of traditional Google search. To help brands stay visible in this new world, Adobe wants Semrush’s strong SEO data, competitive analysis tools, and enterprise insights — already used by companies like Amazon, TikTok, and JPMorgan Chase.
Once the acquisition is complete, Adobe plans to fully integrate Semrush’s tools into its analytics and content systems, giving marketers a single platform for SEO, content creation, customer data, and campaign performance — all boosted by Adobe’s advanced AI technology.
