Have crypto will travel: booking site adds XRP support

A major online travel company has added support for the Ripple-created coin; so XRP bag holders could be packing their cases too.

The blockchain-powered room-booking site Travala, which claims to have over 500,000 properties to chose from across 200+ countries, is adding Ripple’s crypto, XRP, to its already long list of payment options. That means, effective immediately, the cryptocurrency can be spent to book accommodation in any of the 82,000 locations where the site boasts it offers rooms.

Alongside its own AVA token, which drives its internal incentives model, Travala currently accepts (deep breath) Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB, which is a pretty good ticker for a room bookings site, when you think about it), EOS, Stellar (XLM) and True USD (TUSD) for payments – with XRP now already active after its announcement via Twitter.

In subsequent tweets, the site also announced that it will support Dash (DASH) and DigiByte Coin (DGB) – which brings it’s list of supported coins up to 10. There are also extensive fiat payments options available for payments too.

Travala relies on blockchain tech to verify all of the review on the site, helping to ensure their authenticity. It also incentivises user referrals and opinion-leading content by issuing its own NEO-based AVA tokens – which were the subject of an ICO earlier this year.
