OpenAI has released its popular AI video app Sora for Android users. The app, which lets people create short AI-generated videos (up to 60 seconds) from text or images, was earlier available only on iPhones.
Currently, it’s available in the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, but not yet in India. OpenAI hasn’t shared when it will launch here.
Sora lets users:
- Make creative short videos with auto soundtracks
- Add “cameos” (AI-generated clips of themselves or friends)
- Remix videos and share them directly on social media
Free users can make basic videos, while ChatGPT Plus users get access to longer, faster video generation.
The app became a massive hit — over 1 million downloads in 5 days — but has also raised concerns over deepfakes and copyright misuse, leading OpenAI to tighten its content rules.
